The Rolex Explorer II was presented by Rolex in 1971 as an addition to the 1954 model Explorer I. It features an additional 24-hour indication that can also be used as a second time-zone. This 24-hour indication, among other things, has been designed for professional cavers, for whom a reliable temporal orientation, independent of the outside world, is of the utmost importance. In addition the design of the dial puts a special emphasis on excellent readability, even in the dark.
In contrast to the GMT-Master or the Submariner, here the bezel does not rotate, but is fixed and has a scale of 24 hours. The watch is optionally available with a black or a white dial.
Rolex produced the initial Explorer II until 1984. It featured Cal. 1575GMT, like the similar Rolex GMT-Master, and a 39 mm case. The orange-tipped 24-hour hand is the signature feature; although later models had a red hand, which faded to orange over time though. This model is sometimes called the "Freccione" ("Arrow" in Italian) or "Steve McQueen", even though there is no evidence that the actor ever wore this model.
A transitional model Explorer II, was produced from 1985 till 1988. It is similar to the previous model but uses the new Cal. 3085 with an adjustable GMT hand from the Rolex GMT-Master II. The case is larger as well, at 40 mm.
The modern Explorer II, was introduced in 1989. It uses the new Cal. 3185, still with the adjustable GMT hand and fixed bezel. This was produced for over 20 years, upgraded to Cal. 3186 and the "ROLEX ROLEX" rehaut in 2007.
The latest Explorer II was introduced in 2011, it uses Cal. 3187 and features a larger 42 mm case. The Explorer II is available with either a black or a white dial, both in stainless steel with the Oyster bracelet.

Shipment processing time
We ship from our flagship store in Atlanta, GA. All orders are processed within 1-3 business days. Orders are not shipped or delivered on holidays.
If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed by a few days. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there will be a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone.
Shipping rates & delivery estimates
Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout. We use USPS, FedEx and UPS and shipping carriers.
* Overnight delivery is only available for orders with delivery addresses within the continental United States.
Delivery delays can occasionally occur based on weather conditions.
Shipment to P.O. boxes or APO/FPO addresses
Swiss Luxury Watches ships to addresses within the U.S., U.S. Territories, and APO/FPO/DPO addresses.
Shipment confirmation & Order tracking
You will receive a Shipment Confirmation email once your order has shipped containing your tracking number(s). The tracking number will be active within 24 hours.
Customs, Duties and Taxes
Swiss Luxury Watches is not responsible for any customs and taxes applied to your order. All fees imposed during or after shipping are the responsibility of the customer (tariffs, taxes, etc.).
You are not liable for any products damaged or lost during shipping, in this unlikely event please call us and we will do our best to help locate the shipment or replace. If you received your order damaged, please contact the shipment carrier to file a claim.
Please save all packaging materials and damaged goods before filing a claim.
Returning Your Watch
Any watch purchased from Swiss Luxury Watches can be returned within the first 5 days of arrival. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Any items outside this window is cannot be returned and all those sales will be deemed final.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING POLICY
We currently DO NOT ship outside of the United States. Pricing and Delivery vary based on location.
We know the value of security, so every pre-owned watch we sell comes with a 12-month warranty alongside any remaining manufacturer's warranty. Should your watch develop any issues, through no fault of your own, then we shall repair it free of charge for the duration of your warranty. Please note our warranty doesn’t apply to new watches.
How Does the Warranty Work
- If you have any remaining manufacturer's warranty, then you can send your watch to them for repair either via us or via an authorized retailer.
- If your watch is covered by a Swiss Luxury Watches warranty only, then we will undertake the repairs in conjunction with the manufacturer where necessary.
- If your watch is not covered by any warranty then you can send it to us for a quote. Any work undertaken by us will be covered by a further 24-month Swiss Luxury Watches warranty.
Please note that our warranty covers manufacturing and mechanical defects only.
Our warranty is subject to the same terms and conditions as the manufacturer’s warranty. The standard manufacturer’s warranty does not cover theft or loss of the watch. Normal wear-and-tear or damage caused to the watch by accidents or mishandling/mistreatment are also excluded, as well as damage caused to a watch due to submersion in water which is against the manufacturer's guidelines. One particular example not covered by the warranty is the wear of the watch strap.
Any modification of a watch by the addition or substitution of components with aftermarket products which have not been provided by the manufacturer will also invalidate the warranty. The use of aftermarket components can severely compromise the technical performance, reliability and waterproofness of the watch.
Warranty return packs are sent directly to the service center, however you are free to deliver your warranty return to any Swiss Luxury Watches premises where it will be forwarded along to the service center directly. Please be advised that warranty return packs must be adequately insured at your own expense. The warranty is in addition to your statutory and common law rights.
What if My Watch Has a Problem
If your watch develops a fault, you can return it to us for inspection. If the repair is covered by your warranty, it will be undertaken free of charge. A member of the warranty team will then contact you to arrange the repair.
