When Norbert d Patek met the talented French watchmaker Jean-Adrien Philippe at the Paris World Fair in 1844, this was the beginning of one of the most renowned premium watch brands. Philippe had already made his mark in watch history with one of its most revolutionary inventions - the crown winding. This genius design meant that watches no longer needed to be wound with an additional key, but both the winding and the time adjustment of the hands can be performed much easier by the crown.

On 15th May 1845 the lawyer Vincent Gostkowski, also became an associate and the company was renamed to Patek Philippe & Co. In the same year they applied for a patent for a watch with a winding stem and hand adjustment mechanism. Patek Phillippe and & Co. produced the first watch with a minute repeater.

Among watch connoisseurs Patek Philippe is regarded as the leading brand, not least because of its traditions and the continuous creation of peak horological performances, for instance in the area of complications. This is characterized by the many inventions that have affected fine watchmaking. From 1845 (modern crown winding) until 1996 (annual calendar) Patek Philippe has been awarded over 70 patents.

The watches produced by the brand are not only sold as consumer items, but also as investments with a very stable value. This  is unmistakably reflected in the auction results: on 14 April 2002 in Geneva, a model World Time watch from 1946 in platinum reached a price of more than 6.5 million CHF and thus holds the record for the most expensive wristwatch ever auctioned. The 20 most expensive wristwatches in the world that were ever sold at an auction come exclusively from the house of Patek Philippe.

We know the value of security, so every pre-owned watch we sell comes with a 12-month warranty alongside any remaining manufacturer's warranty. Should your watch develop any issues, through no fault of your own, then we shall repair it free of charge for the duration of your warranty. Please note our warranty doesn’t apply to new watches.

How Does the Warranty Work

  • If you have any remaining manufacturer's warranty, then you can send your watch to them for repair either via us or via an authorized retailer.
  • If your watch is covered by a Swiss Luxury Watches warranty only, then we will undertake the repairs in conjunction with the manufacturer where necessary.
  • If your watch is not covered by any warranty then you can send it to us for a quote. Any work undertaken by us will be covered by a further 24-month Swiss Luxury Watches warranty.

Important Information

Please note that our warranty covers manufacturing and mechanical defects only.

Our warranty is subject to the same terms and conditions as the manufacturer’s warranty. The standard manufacturer’s warranty does not cover theft or loss of the watch. Normal wear-and-tear or damage caused to the watch by accidents or mishandling/mistreatment are also excluded, as well as damage caused to a watch due to submersion in water which is against the manufacturer's guidelines. One  particular example not covered by the warranty is the wear of the watch strap.

Any modification of a watch by the addition or substitution of components with aftermarket products which have not been provided by the manufacturer will also invalidate the warranty. The use of aftermarket components can severely compromise the technical performance, reliability and waterproofness of the watch.

Warranty return packs are sent directly to the service center, however you are free to deliver your warranty return to any Swiss Luxury Watches premises where it will be forwarded along to the service center directly. Please be advised that warranty return packs must be adequately insured at your own expense. The warranty is in addition to your statutory and common law rights.
